The Board of Directors of the Spanish Society of Environmental Health (SESA) This book begins with what purports to be a series of documents that make available to all interested in this discipline tools that help solve problems related environmental health. Not directed only to the technical and environmental health of the administration but also to those public or private companies that have among their objectives to minimize the health impact of environmental factors.

That is the vocation of the series of books that we have entitled "aeribus, aquis et loci "in memory of the Hippocratic work where he first recognized the influence of environment on health.

One of the most urgent issues that may have to be addressed was the incorporation of health criteria that set of administrative processes whose most visible is the Environmental Impact Assessment. We must be convinced that the participation of the health authorities in these procedures can be neither superficial nor testimonial.

Therefore, Board commissioned a working group, expanded staff and experts, we want to recognize the effort and dedication given to thank, to develop a guide with sufficient evidence for environmental health technicians of the regions to standardize the criteria used when making mandatory reports of all health plans, programs, projects and activities subject to environmental assessment. But this guide will also be a tool for companies that perform environmental impact assessments will serve as a model to learn all aspects to be evaluated.

This guide, we have entitled "Health in Environmental Impact Assessment", aims to have a sequel because if the first central body is the guide, in the second, where work is already, Specific tools are developed in each of the aspects.

We hope this first book we put into circulation is useful for actions relating to environmental health to reach their goal which is none other than the health protection.
